[Sousei, having a rare day off, has been spending most of it chilling at home--aside from his general exercise regimen, of course.
But after that recent santa nonsense, he's a little on-edge despite himself; as soon as he hears the trod of feet, he looks up, tensing, hand straying towards his sword (which now sits within arm's reach).
Oh.
It's Kousetsu. Never mind, this is fine. Probably. He nods in greeting, forcibly calming down.]
[ They were all a bit on edge it seemed. Tenka wasn't faring any better and Kousetsu was at a loss for what to do. Normally he would just lend an ear and listen to what the other had to say, but in this case...he wanted to do something useful.
He pauses as if worrying for the other before he bows in apology. ]
I am sorry to have...disturbed you. [ At that moment a small robotic white bird in the shape and image of a dove will nest itself on Kousetsu's shoulder. It looks pretty chill and totally at ease with the large sword. ]
[Ah... he didn't intend to make Kousetsu apologize, that's for sure. If there is anyone not at fault, it's Kousetsu.
So he shakes his head promptly in response, frowning slightly.]
No, you have nothing to apologize for. [He does note the Cybuddy, but...despite his general dislike of the things (which mostly stems from distrust of anything robotic at this point), he has to admit it is within Kousetsu's rights to have it.]
... I am fine. There is no need to concern yourself over it. And yourself?
...Yes I am fine. [ He's still not used to people asking how he was. But he's getting better with it at least. ]
I visited the others to make sure they were all doing well. It seems...Haru-san was caught out in the blizzard. But his wounds are being treated. [ He still feels a slight amount of guilt about that and it shows slightly in the frown touching the corners of his mouth. ]
I have also brought home a few pets. But I would like to have you and Tenka-san's approval before keeping them. [ What a bombshell to just drop in a convo. Kousetsu plz. Said pets would be a cat, dog, and yes that is a tiny flamingo CYbuddy that all now walk into the room. Surprise! I hope you like new pets Sousei. ]
Shishiou-san was giving them new homes and I...did not wish to see them go without a place to stay. [ He knows they're just robots and robots aren't technically 'alive' but Kousetsu likes animals and he can't help himself but to bring a few home. They look alive and real enough to him though. ]
[...Ah, yes. Haru-san. The one he saved out in said blizzard. He wouldn't be surprised if the kid got himself into even more trouble after Sousei left him in a safer place, admittedly. It seems like the sort of thing he would do.
...]
Ah. Your saniwa-- [......... pet....s.............. he blinks.
And pauses.
And furrows his brow at them.]
... It is within your rights to have a CYBuddy if you wish, but... do you need that many of them?
[ Haru-san no. To be honest he had been very worried about the sainwa the entire time. It's good to know his worry was justified to an extent. But he was also grateful that nothing too terrible had happened to the young man.
But Kousetsu watches Sousei's reaction his own expression remaining neutral. ]
...no. I was...thinking of getting one for you, Tenka-san and Souza. It is... [ hm how does he put it ] ...a gift to show gratitude for you and Tenka helping us.
[ He knows it's a bit of a stretch to give pets as gifts. Not everyone was fond of animals he realized. But then again he's not really too sure what the two of them like just yet. CYBuddies weren't so bad and relatively low maintenance he thinks. ]
...I am sorry if it is not to your liking. [ He'll look down at the cat and dog with an impassive expression on his face. Despite his lack of emotion there's clearly something there in his overall posture and aura that suggests Kousetsu is rather fond of animals, even if he doesn't show it. ] Giving gifts is...still an unfamiliar process. I am not sure what is acceptable or not. I can...return them to Shishiou-san if you wish.
[ Though inwardly and somewhat selfishly he'd like to keep them all. But the apartment was small and animals did take up needed room. So he was willing to part with them should Sousei not wish to keep his. ]
[A gift of gratitude... oh. Sousei wasn't expecting that at all. He blinks slowly, and while his kneejerk reaction is to say that he doesn't need it, he's not so oblivious that he can't tell how Kousetsu is feeling right now. Honestly, he's rather good at reading the emotions of other people, so after a long moment of considering Kousetsu's posture, he crosses his arms and nods shortly.]
...Fine. [wow what a nice way to accept a gift, sousei.] Thank you for the thought, but there will be no need to return them.
[As wary as he is of the robots, it would be like kicking an actual puppy to tell Kousetsu no at this point.]
I am...glad you have accepted it Sousei-san. [ Well Kousetsu is pleased by this, yes. His mouth might even turn up into a smile?! (Gasp!) But he does nod and he does look relieved to some extent that the other has accepted his gift. ]
I will take care of them whenever you or Tenka-san are not around to do so.
[ They were his gifts after all and somewhat his responsibility too. His expression reverts back to its usual state. ] I am told that it is...proper to give them names.
[ He wonders what kind of name Sousei will think up. ]
[That is indeed a smile from stoic sword-san!! Whoa there. Or, well, Sousei would be surprised if he was more the sort of person to be. But as a fellow stoic, he knows that the feelings still happen, there's just less on the outside to see.
So he nods simply. It seems like a fair deal, since Kousetsu clearly really enjoys said animals....]
...A name. I will have to think on that.
[He's not clever enough to come up with one on hand.]
Then the dog is for Tenka, I assume. And the others? Yours and Souza's?
...yes. I think Tenka would enjoy it. [ It seems pretty high energy and able to keep up with him at least. At that question Kousetsu turns to the dove on his shoulder still. ] This is mine. I have named it Shiro.
[ The dove will coo calmly and happily from its perch. And Kousetsu will bend down to pick up the miniature flamingo. ] I am...not sure what it is called. But I retrieved this one for Souza.
[ It's pink and that's all that matters. Souza will like it he thinks. ]
[ Kousetsu nods silently. He hopes so too...but at least they're just robots and not actual living animals. Even if whatever magic or technology they've used makes them act as such. ]
...yes. I believe it is called a...flamingo. [ He says it strangely because what kind of animal is that even. ] But it does match Souza's attire. I hope...he likes it.
[ Ah. Hm. Sousei is right in those regards. Kousetsu nods along in agreement. ]
...Sousei-san do you have any brothers of your own? [ He's asking in earnest because the other man never really talks too much about himself does he? Though maybe he shouldn't have asked such a question now that realizes it. He's not very good with these things still, forgive him. He bows his head a little in apology. ]
I am sorry. That was...too forward of me, I apologize.
[His response comes easy, at least. Sousei doesn't talk about himself much, no, but he's not exactly reticent about his past; it just doesn't come up and he doesn't see the need to bring it up.]
Presumably, I don't have any siblings by blood. [He can't be entirely sure; he has no idea what happened to his family, but he suspects it would have been unwise for his parents to have more children with the entire Orochi thing happening.]
...I see. [ Kousetsu frowns at that. It's a visible frown and perhaps he shouldn't have asked. It wasn't his place to ask about such personal things being a sword that he was... ]
But you and Tenka-san are quite close. Is that not a...similar situation? [ Hm. ] There is a different...feeling when it comes to family. I feel something different when I am with Souza and Sayo.
[ Well being forged by the same swordsmith wasn't a typical family connection. But he figured the emotions he felt towards Souza and Sayo were different than the emotions he felt towards others. Which meant that they were family in his eyes. ]
[...Tenka... Yeah, there is Tenka. It's at the point where Sousei doesn't know how to quantify his relationship with Tenka, beyond "partner". But he does nod.]
...Yes, I grew up with Tenka. His family took me in as a child.
[...]
So in that sense, we are family. [he admits it slowly, as if it's difficult to say, and in a way, it is--but Kousetsu...is someone who would understand his slight hesitance, his struggle with the idea, he feels. It's easy to have a conversation like this with him.]
As for you--regardless of the way in which you became siblings, you are undeniably family.
[ Kousetsu does note that hesitance and understands entirely why. He doesn't comment on it however but merely nods. ] I am sure Tenka-san would be happy to hear that. [ But he knows Sousei probably wouldn't admit that to the other's face. ]
...thank you Sousei-san. There are...not many humans who have said such things to me. It is an honor to be a part of yours and Tenka-san's family.
[ Even if he's still a stiff about it Kousetsu's words are heartfelt and honest as they will ever be. ]
...Either way, for now, Sousei's satisfied, and he nods.]
...Thank you for the gift. [Even if he's still not sure how to handle it, he appreciates the...attempt? Yes. He'll try to learn how to take care of a pet.] I will do my best to take proper care of it.
